The Rhodesia 1911 Double Head postage stamps are among the most iconic and sought-after philatelic issues from southern Africa. Issued by the British South Africa Company, these stamps feature the conjoined portraits of King George V and Queen Mary, symbolizing British imperial authority. The stamps were printed in a wide range of denominations and color combinations, often using a bi-colored printing process that enhanced their aesthetic appeal. Designed by H.V. Bacon and printed by Waterlow and Sons, the Double Heads were in circulation from 1910 to 1914 and were used primarily for international and domestic correspondence. Their artistic design, combined with production varieties such as color shades, paper types, and watermark differences, make them a favorite among collectors. Some rare errors and high-denomination values are particularly valuable. The Double Heads remain a testament to Rhodesia’s colonial history and the era’s fine stamp engraving craftsmanship.
